The Meaning Behind the Marks
Hey there, you may be wondering why the domain name for this website is “JWWebDesign” but then it’s centered on charcoal art…well I’m glad you asked. Currently I’m in a portfolio class, and I’m making a portfolio website that is focused on web design and graphic design, so I didn’t want to make two very similar websites. A huge passion of mine is charcoal drawing, and I’d love to do it full time one day, so I decided to take the opportunity and make this project focused on my art instead.
Walking through the brand guide and creating the style tile got me even more excited about doing an art business, and it really helped me define some aspects of my branding. For the colors, I knew I’d primarily do black and white to match the charcoal theme, but I also wanted to add in a color to use for accents here and there. Amidst the thought-provoking, God-centered theme a dark maroon/red I think fits very nicely, portraying passion, importance, energy, and love. For the font, Cinzel Decorative instantly clicked for me due to the sharpness and elegance of it, as well as some of the letters present similar to certain charcoal strokes and lines. ( I haven’t added the fonts to the website yet.)
